Daniel P. Dalton

Dalton & Tomich co-founder Daniel P. Dalton is a 30-year veteran attorney who has been recognized as one of the top 25 attorneys in the state of Michigan and one of the top 100 attorneys in the nation. Dan focuses his practice on land use and zoning law and has successfully litigated cases in more than 20 states. He has been quoted by numerous publications across the country, including the Atlantic Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the Detroit Free Press, Detroit News and Crain’s Detroit Business. He has taught Business Law as an adjunct professor at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan and serves as general counsel to non-profits, churches and small privately held corporations. He is also an experienced commercial litigation attorney in state and federal court.

Noel W. Sterett

Noel W. Sterett, leader of Dalton & Tomich’s Illinois office, has advised for profit and not-for-profit corporations in Illinois for over a decade. He enjoys helping small businesses and entrepreneurs accomplish their goals from start to finish. From corporate formation to drafting contracts and bylaws, Noel has helped clients navigate a variety of legal issues and overcome obstacles to their success. He has significant experience helping his clients navigate zoning and land use laws. He is also an experienced litigator.

Christopher C. Lund

A celebrated legal scholar, author and professor, Christopher C. Lund focuses his practice on appellate litigation. Media outlets, civil rights organizations and religious groups regularly call upon him to share insight on various legal issues. He has been cited in articles, books and judicial opinions. Chris is a professor of law at Wayne State University Law School, where he has been voted Professor of the Year six times. He earned his law degree with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law.

Lawrence Opalewski

Larry Opalewski is a partner at Dalton & Tomich. He has significant experience in all aspects of litigation and has represented individuals, religious institutions, small to mid-size businesses, large businesses and municipalities. Larry was selected as a “Rising Star” litigator by Super Lawyers in 2017, 2018, and 2019. While he enjoys advocating for his clients through litigation, he also seeks to solve problems outside the courtroom.
